BlueFire® wireless weapons

Meggitt Training Systems’ BlueFire® wireless weapon simulators provide the highest level of realism in simulation by maintaining the form, fit and function of the original weapon. BlueFire weapons meet the judgmental training needs of law enforcement by using commercial wireless technology to communicate with the FATS® virtual firearms training system, giving the same control as tethered weapons but with full range of motion. These patented firearm simulators can be used in conjunction with other tethered weapon simulators without modification.

Weapon simulator types

Meggitt Training Systems continues to increase the line of BlueFire weapons, having added the S&W M&P in .40 and 9mm. Currently BlueFire versions are available for Glock 17, Glock 17 Gen4, Glock 19, Sig P226, Sig P229, Beretta M9, Walther P99QA, S&W M&P 9/40, H&K G36E, M4, M16A2/A4 and SRS Rifle (M16 type) simulators. Our BlueFire weapons are available in many configurations including Picatinny rails, allowing for use of optics in law enforcement training. Fully sensored weapons reinforce the fundamentals of marksmanship training by providing sensor feedback for butt pressure, trigger squeeze and cant.

Less lethal weapon simulators

Less lethal tactical firearms training is offered through X26 Taser® and chemical (OC) spray wireless simulators. These training accessories are supported with specialized courseware.

Recoil and refill

To further enhance the virtual firearms training experience, weapon recoil is achieved with a rechargeable magazine of compressed gas, delivered via a proprietary fill station. This is significant in that while not tethered, BlueFire weapons retain full sensor feedback for robust diagnostics and after action review. Magazines are refilled in just a few seconds with either compressed air or nitrogen. Our filling station is designed to accept any of our BlueFire magazines and refill each one with a quick depression of the handle. Nitrogen gas for refilling can be obtained from your local gas supplier or you can use a SCUBA tank easily refilled at any SCUBA shop.

Tethered simulated weapons

Meggitt’s FATS® tethered weapon simulators are built with form, fit and function as an officer duty weapon. The tolerances of our judgmental training systems are within 10% of live weapon weight and center of gravity. Tethered weapons provide the highest degree of weapon control and feedback. Features include butt pressure sensor, trigger squeeze sensor, cant sensor and muzzle trace, reinforcing the fundamentals of marksmanship training. Meggitt’s virtual training weapons can even be fitted with optics, maximizing training potential. Tethered weapons support real-time transmittal and display of weapon handling data to the instructor in the form of displayed weapon sensor data. The instructor can initiate weapon jams via instructor keystroke, designated elapsed scenario time, and/or designated number of shots fired.

Weapon simulator types

Meggitt Training Systems is unsurpassed in our firearms training library, supporting many weapon simulation systems from around the globe, including pistols, rifles, machine guns and shotguns. Some of the simulator training system weapons include the M&P 40, Beretta M9, Glock 17, M4 (AR15 type), Steyr AUG, Browning M2, Remington 870 and Accuracy International sniper rifles supporting through sight capabilities. Recoil and refill

Weapon recoil is achieved with compressed air or CO2 gas, providing recoil sufficient to disturb the trainee sight picture, requiring the trainee to reacquire the target after each shot. Air is delivered through a tether connected to an air source (i.e. air tanks or compressor).
